Leonard Weeks
Events • Feb. 4, 1660, "Leonard Weikes'" account for town services allowed. • In 1662, he was a selectman of Portsmouth. • In the Constables' rates made in Dec. 1688, Leonard Weeks is given as a resident of Sandy Beach (Rye) and Greenland. • In his will-deed dated 28 Dec 1682 Samuel Haines mentions his sons Sam and Matthias and his son-in-law Leonard Weeks. NOTE: There is the possibility that the
wife of Leonard is Mary Redman, based on the following: In June, 1682, Leonard Weeks testified that "20 yrs. ago, he put his
horse into his father Redman's pasture, by leave & license of sd. father
Redman," "which pasture joineth to the east end of ye planting of
lot of John Redman Jr." John Redman, senior, is named about the same time.
From this it seems that he may have married, first, a daughter of John Redman,
senior. Leonard married Mary Haines, daughter of Deacon Samuel Haines and Ellenor Neate, about 1667 in Greenland, Rockingham, New
Hampshire. Leonard next married Elizabeth.
