  Events

• He came to the colonies with his parents aboard the " John & Dorothy", which sailed from Yarmouth, England, on 15 April 1637. They arrived at Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, on 20 June 1637, after a voyage of sixty-six days, and eventually settled in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

Nicholas Nickerson on Sept. 29, 1655, with his father, witnessed a deed in Yarmouth of William Pearse and Elizabeth, his wife to John Darby of a house and land in Yarmouth.

He took the oath of fidelity at Yarmouth in 1657. On 4 July 1663, he joined his father and brothers in petitioning for leave to settle at Monomoy, but he did not join his father there.

He was often in trouble with Yarmouth's religious authorities. On 5 June 1667 the Selectmen faulted him for not attending church. On July 2 of the same year, he acknowledged before the court that he had done wrong in saying that Thomas Thornton said "that if a man have not his owne to pay towards the minnesters maintainance, hee must borrow it of his naighbour" and that "a certaine sermon the said Mr. Thornton taught was halfe of it lyes." He promised to make the same acknowledgement publicly at the meeting house.

He does not appear to have been extremely active in town affairs; the only record of service seems to be on a grand jury in 1678.

Nicholas married Mary Derby. (Mary Derby was born in Norwich, Norfolkshire, England and died on 16 Mar 1706 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts.)
