Obituary On Friday, Dec. 18th, occurred the death of Mrs. Martha Kenney, widow of Harvey Kenney, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nell A. Babb, Mexico. In 1865 occurred the death of Mr. Adams. In 1870 she was married to Harvey Kenney of South Carthage and came to the home where were Mr. Kenney's four motherless children, upon whom she bestowed the love and care of a mother. For the past few years, Mrs. Kenney has lived with her daughters, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Babb and it was at the home of the latter that she passed away, after an illness of over 3 years duration, caused by Bright's disease. Mrs. Kenney for nearly 40 years, had been a valued and efficient member of Mt. Sugar Loaf Grange. She leaves besides her children and step-sons, one sister, Mrs. J. G. Gleason of Cheyenne, Wyoming, one brother, Everett H. Severy of Lowell, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Rev. Ransom Gilkey officiated at the funeral service held at her late home, on Monday at 10 a.m., and also at the service held at East Dixfield, at 2:30 p.m. The floral tributes were very beautiful. Interment was at East Dixfield. |
